THE PROBLEM
- Most bifold door problems result from the poor quality
hardware used to support them and not the doors or the bifold
design itself. The builder usually selects the least expensive
hardware, materials, and labor available to produce a product
that performs long enough to meet the warranty requirements
- but soon after, the doors stop working properly.
THE SOLUTION
- In repairing your bifold doors I am not offering to come
out to your house and adjust your doors with their original
hardware and leave you in the same situation you were originally
in. Instead, I fix the bifolds to last by removing all of
your existing hardware including the track and the brackets
and throwing them in the trash. I install a quality set
of hardware that mounts differently and actually supports
the door entirely. Instead of a flimsy metal post rammed
into a hole in the top and bottom of the door panel, I install
a sturdy metal bracket that mounts out of view with screws
to the back of the door. A new track is installed where
the old track was and new, high-quality hinges are installed
between the door panels.
THE RESULTS
- What makes this new system superior is the way the door
is supported. The weight of conventional bifold doors rests
on the bottom corner of the pivot side of the door on a
slotted bracket that allows the door to be knocked out of
adjustment. Your new hardware will support the door from
the top corner of the pivot side.
This changes
the dynamics of the door operation completely, eliminates
the problems associated with bifold doors, and extends the
life of your doors by many years.
